Mrs. Mary Virginia "Sweet Pea" Shirley, age 69, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, October 19, 2020.

Mrs. Shirley was born in Hall County on April 26, 1951 to the late Hammond Jesse and Ida Armour Jones.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband A.D. Shirley, Sr. and many of her siblings.  Mrs. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She knew the value of hard work and the care of raising her family.

Survivors include her children Bruce and Mandy Blount, of Dahlonega, A.D. Jr. and Andrea Shirley, of Dahlonega, Bradley Blount, of Athens, Michelle Paula and Robert Hamilton, Dahlonega; brothers Bobby Jones, and Billy Jones, both of Tennessee; grandchildren Ruby Dawn Shirley, Mary Kathleen and Gregory Fulkerson, A.D. Shirley, III, Owen Blount, T.J. Blount, Eva Blount, Jessica Blount, Madison Mort, Louie Mort, Kayla Blount, Wade Blount, Dakota Blount, Dristan Roberts, Cody Hamilton and Cynthia Hamilton; great-grandchildren Drake Allen Fulkerson, Paisley Fulkerson, Charlie Blount, Nolan Blount, and Sapphire Blount; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Bruce Blount and the Rev. Shane Savage will officiate.  Interment will follow in Community Chapel Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
