Matthew Graeme Bartils, age 33, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Matthew was very proud of being a true "Nugget", being born and raised in Dahlonega. He was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School and the University of North Georgia. Matthew loved to work "hands on". He worked in his dad's shop, North Georgia Fabrication and HHI. Matthew loved building "hot rods", in fact, he was building a Mercury in recent days. Although he was a quiet young man his love was loud for his parents and family. For Matthew cooking was an art and he could often be found over a grill or a stove. Matthew was a flight instructor and his greatest passion was flying. He flew for Falcon Aviation. He was a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Matthew was greatly loved and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Survivors include his parents Graeme and Marilyn Bartils, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law Jeffrey and Marie Bartils, Australia; and uncles, aunts, and cousins living in Australia.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the funeral home. A private family memorial will follow at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Schofield and the Rev. Robin Parr will officiate.
