Mrs. Melissa Ann (Hughes) Posten, age 76, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on November 11, 2025.

Melissa was born on July 19, 1949, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Junie and Nell Hughes. She grew up in Dahlonega, where she met Clifton James Posten. They married and moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia, where they purchased land, built their home together, and raised their daughter, Michelle.

Melissa was a devout Christian, having been saved and baptized at the age of 14 at Friendship Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, Brody and Desiree, and her great-granddaughter, Allura Rose. She loved music, car races, dancing, beautiful sunsets, the beach, and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifton Posten; sisters, Corabell Brown and Margaret (Smiley) Wise; and brothers, Kenneth and Keith Hughes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Scott Swafford; grandchildren, Brody Swafford and Desiree Swafford; great-granddaughter, Allura Rose Powell; sisters, Martha Anderson and Mary Smith; brother, Kenny Hughes; as well as several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life for Melissa will be held in March 2026. The official date and time will be announced at a later date by Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega.
