Michiel Edwin
Davis
Aug 10, 1945 — Aug 5, 2026
Dahlonega
Michiel "Mike" Davis, age 80, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026.
Born in Hapeville, Georgia, Mike faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Munitions Maintenance Specialist. After returning home, he spent decades as a community banker throughout small towns across the Southeast. He celebrated with young couples buying their first homes, believed in entrepreneurs chasing impossible dreams, encouraged business owners through difficult seasons and treated every customer with dignity and respect. Many who walked into his office looking for a loan walked out having found an advocate, a mentor, and often, a friend.
Mike liked his coffee piping hot and his beer ice cold. He liked to listen to his music just a little too loud and took every opportunity he could to dance with his wife of 54 years. Ever hopeful that this would be the Falcons' year, he faithfully looked forward to football season and cooler temperatures. He was proud of his children, delighted by his grandchildren and loved to spoil his dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rebecca "Shann" Davis; his sons, Chris (Maria) and Michael (Carrie), and daughter Shana (Blake); seven grandchildren (Maddox, Hank, Samantha, Bo, Gus, Annie, and Charlie); and many extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, neighbors and members of the communities he faithfully served.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers (Regina Shields and Magnolia Assisted Living), hospice team (Spirit), friends, church family and countless others whose kindness, prayers and support surrounded him and those he loved throughout his final journey.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bessie Davis.
Mike was cremated according to his wishes and the family intends to have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
The family would deeply appreciate any memories you'd be willing to share via Mike's online guestbook at andersonunderwood.com.
