Mrs. Mildred Norrell, age 79, of Dahlonega passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020.
Mrs. Norrell was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on May 23, 1941 to the late Robert and Hattie Summerour Reeves. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jewell Norrell, daughter Linda Myers, son Edward Norrell, and sister Joyce Head. Mrs. Norrell was a loving wife and mother. A true servant of the Lord, she faithfully ministered in music and song to the residents of Gold City Nursing Home every Sunday and Tuesday for twenty-nine years. Mrs. Norrell's love for playing the guitar and singing was expressed in the group she sang with - "The Chapel Singers". Her family deeply loved her and her grandchildren called her "Nanny" and "MeMe". Mrs. Norrell was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Charles Gilstrap, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law David and Connie Norrell, Dawsonville, and Frank and Darlene Norrell, Dahlonega; son-in-law James Myers, Murrayville; brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin and Joy Reeves, Dawsonville, and Bobby Reeves and Debra Wimpy, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law Glenda and Eddie Palmer, Dahlonega, and Bonnie and Johnny Rider, Dawsonville; brother -in-law Richard Head, Dahlonega; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell, the Rev. Jerry Whitlock, and the Rev. Melvin Reeves will officiate. Interment will follow in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday and 9:00 AM until the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
