Narvel Nekurvis Anderson, age 75 of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Born in White County, Georgia, Narvel had lived in Florida for several years. He was a man who loved his family dearly, worked hard throughout his life, and, as those who knew him best would say, lived life on his own terms and in his own way.

Trucking was more than Nekurvis’ occupation; it was a way of life. He began driving at just 19 years old and spent his life behind the wheel. Through the years, he drove dump trucks, tanker trucks, and long-haul trucks as an over-the-road driver. His travels took him through every state in the United States, and his family often joked that he knew every turn and every exit along the way. If it involved trucks, roads, or driving, Nekurvis knew something about it.

Even as he grew older, he never completely gave up the driver’s seat. He continued driving until March of this year, when sickness finally forced him to stop. Few things could better describe Nekurvis than the life of a truck driver; independent, hardworking, always moving, and never afraid of a long road ahead.

When he wasn't driving, Nekurvis enjoyed hunting and fishing, trying his luck at the slot machines, watching NASCAR, and keeping up with the news as an avid Fox News viewer.

But as much as he loved trucking and all his other interests, Nekurvis loved his family most of all. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Papa.” His great-granddaughter Scarlett held an especially tender place in his heart and was truly “the apple of his eye.”

Nekurvis was also known for his generosity. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. Beneath his independent spirit was a man who cared deeply for the people he called family.

He is survived by his children, Kim House and husband Roger of Missouri; Keith Anderson and wife Brandy of Cleveland; and Brandy Emory and husband Don of Tampa; sisters, Teresa Johnson and Mardell White; brother and sister-in-law, Royce and Carol Anderson; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Anderson and Brenda Anderson.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashleigh French, Jacob French, Anna Anderson, Seth Anderson, Emma Anderson, Kevin Emory, Kaylee Emory, Connor Emory, and Jason Emory; and great-grandchildren, Braylea Holland, Cayson Peacock, and Scarlett French.

Also surviving Nekurvis are his stepchildren Stacey, Halloran, Jonathan, Bushey, and Stephanie.

Nekurvis was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lester and Hazel Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Rondal Hulsey; brothers, Melvin Anderson and Kenneth Anderson; brother-in-law, Delmer White; and grandson, Stephen Emory.

Nekurvis traveled a lot of miles in his lifetime, saw a lot of country, and made a lot of memories along the way. He loved his family, loved the open road, and lived his life in a way that was unmistakably his own.

Perhaps the words of a song that fit Narvel so well say it best: “I did it my way.”

And that is exactly how Nekurvis lived: his life, his road, his way.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
