Obituary

Papamma Chandar, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 9, 2026, in Dahlonega. She was born on December 28, 1937, in Fiji.

Papamma was a devoted servant of God and the true definition of a godly woman. She was full of joy, always smiling, and never met a stranger. Her life was rooted in faith, prayer, kindness, and unconditional love. A faithful member of Church of God of Prophecy "The Fountain", Papamma was known as a prayer warrior whose strength and faith inspired everyone around her.

Above all, she deeply loved her family. She gave unconditional love to her seven children and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Papamma lived in Fiji until 1996, when she came to the United States to help care for her granddaughter, Chelsi. Her nurturing spirit and selfless heart continued to shine throughout her life.

Papamma had a true green thumb and especially loved tending to her rose bushes. She was passionate, kind, loving, and a fighter until the very end. Her warmth and compassion touched countless lives both here and in Fiji.

In a beautiful and fitting farewell, the Lord called Papamma home on Mother's Day in Fiji time: a reflection of the loving and nurturing woman she was throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Apana and Satamma; her beloved husband, Ram Chandar; and her daughters, Sayamma Mani, Sumintra Chandar, Sharda Naidu, and Shakuntla Devi.

She is survived by her only son, Rajendra Chandar (Anita); daughters, Jyoti Naidu (Jiten) and Joyce Sizemore (Kenneth); her adopted daughter, Windy Coleman; grandchildren, Nilesh, Pritika, Krishika, Komal, Shalen, Chelsi, Joel, Sonam, Sally, Silvia, Rahul, Avneel, and Angelee; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family and dear friends both in the United States and in Fiji who will forever cherish her memory.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Affinis Hospice and their compassionate staff, especially Nurse Jen, for caring for Papamma with such love and dignity until the very end. Special thanks also to our church family for the endless love, support, and meals provided during this difficult time; to Chaplain Denise for her comforting words; and to Pastor Joseph Robinson and Dan Love for their prayers, care, and support.

The family would also like to take the time to say a special thank you to Joyce, her daughter, her caregiver, her support and comforter until the very end.

Papamma's legacy of faith, love, prayer, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.

Papamma's final resting place will be in Fiji Island.
