Ray "Gargamel" Blackwell, age 59, of Dahlonega, passed away on May 25, 2024. Born on January 19, 1965, he was the son of the late Charles Blackwell and the late Violet Grizzle Blackwell. Ray was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Blackwell, Linda Blackwell, and Leon Blackwell.

Ray is survived by his loving siblings, Helen (Wayne) Poole of Carnesville, Evelyn Adams of Athens, Grady Blackwell of Dahlonega, Marilynn Blackwell of Dahlonega, Daniel Blackwell of Dahlonega, and Jeannette (Billy) Welch of Dahlonega. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives who will miss him dearly.

Known affectionately as "Gargamel" by those close to him, Ray had a passion for fishing and spent as much time as he could enjoying this favorite pastime.

A visitation to honor Ray's life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega.
