Richard Dewey Black, age 74, of Buford, GA, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Ann Black; parents, Dewey Black and Eva Kuyendoll; brother, Larry Black; and children, Mark Martin and Chiggar Martin.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife of nine years, Barbara Mae Sanders Black of Buford, GA; children, Tommy Martin (Gail) of Homer, GA, JoAnn Smith (Philip) of Gainesville, GA, Cathy Beard (Russell) of Buford, GA, Jenny Millwood (Royce) of Flowery Branch, GA, Randy Martin (Mattie) of Cumming, GA, and Pam Cagle (Kenneth) of Gainesville, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Sue Turner (Phil) of South Carolina, Patsy Chambers (Billy) of North Carolina, Brenda Gail "BB" Black of South Carolina, Janice Martin (Lennon) of Dahlonega, GA, and Sheila Phillips (John) of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Black graduated from Lumpkin County High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver with Pilgrim's Pride Company and a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Oakwood, GA. Mr. Black was known as a jokester and was always helpful to anyone and always had a smile on his face.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jerry McCormick. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville, GA, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Flanigan Funeral Home.
