Obituary

Mr. Robert Samuel Coker, age 85 of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away peacefully at his

home, surrounded by his children, on Thursday July 9, 2026. He was born on April 30,

1941, in Union County, Georgia to the late Floyd and Thelma Coker.

Robert proudly served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he

moved to Cumming, Georgia, where he began his career and became a faithful member

of Friendship Baptist Church. He worked for 13 years at the General Motors plant in

Doraville, Georgia while managing a farm, attending classes at Lanier Technical

College, and raising his three daughters. His strong work ethic and determination laid

the foundation for a lifetime of achievement.

After leaving General Motors, Robert pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a master

craftsman and started Coker Custom Built Homes where he earned a reputation for

exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and building high-quality

homes that reflected his commitment to excellence.

In 1999, Robert married Linda Gaddis and moved to Dahlonega, Georgia. They shared

a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in planting flowers, gardening, and

birdwatching. Together, they faithfully served the Lord as members of Nimblewill Baptist

Church. Robert was also a dedicated Master Mason for the Georgia Chapter of

Freemasons for 50 years.

Robert's love for Jesus Christ was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a humble

man known for his unwavering integrity, steadfast commitment, loyal friendship, and

servant's heart. He believed in working hard and often said there was only one way to

do something—"the right way." He led by example, leaving a lasting impression on

everyone who knew him.

Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His legacy of

faith, love, craftsmanship, and integrity will continue to live on through his family and the

countless lives he touched.
