Mr. Robert "Bob" Stringer, age 91, of Dahlonega, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

Bob was born in Akron, Ohio on November 4, 1926 to the late Colonel Henry and Catherine Rickenbach Stringer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister in law Allen and Virginia Stringer; sister and brother in law Shirley and Vernon Cochran; sister in law Jewell Stringer; nephews Phillip Cochran and Chance Stringer.  Bob was known for his amazing strength and his love for weight lifting.  He invested in many young men in this area teaching them weight lifting techniques to make them stronger.  Bob's other love was keeping the grass mowed at Solid Rock Baptist Church where he was a member.  Several years before his retirement he drove a school bus for Lumpkin County.

Survivors include his sister Carol Housley, Dahlonega; brother Bruce Stringer, Dahlonega; brother and sister in law Barry and Ann Stringer, Mt. Olive, NC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good neighbors.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the chapel of Banister Funeral Home. Mr. Doug Cochran will officiate.  Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2.  The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 4 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church, 7662 Hwy. 115 West, Cleveland, GA 30528.
