Sammie Lane Davis, age 80, of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Friday January 6, 2017 at Foothills Retirement Home in Dahlonega, GA.

She was born in Lumpkin County and had lived in the county all her life. Sammie was the daughter of the late Lonnie D. and Oma Grizzle Davis. She was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School and worked for Burlington Industries for forty years.

In addition to her parents, Sammie is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Gail Stephens and brother Rufus L. Davis.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, William Leon and Jean Davis; grandson, Chris Moody; great-grandson, Gauge Moody and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. She has a special cousin Jimmie Chandler and her family.

A special thanks to the loving staff at Foothills Retirement Home that took care of Sammie.

Funeral services for Sammie are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday January 10, 2017 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Yahoola Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Monday January 9, 2017 from 4 PM until 7:30.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Yahoola Cemetery Fund or Foothills Retirement Home, 264 Myers Chance Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533
