Sidney Burris, known as Sid by his family and his friends, age 80, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on November 23, 2025. Born on February 26, 1945, in Andrews, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Onlie Burris and Lelia Morgan Burris.

In addition to his parents, Sid was preceded in death by his brothers Boyd Burris, Carl Burris, and Roy Burris, as well as his sister, Ada Burris.

Sid is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathy Burris; sons Bryan Smith (Tiffany) and Blake Trent (Katie); and his cherished grandchildren Grace, Gunner, and Tucker Smith, and Harry Trent. He also leaves behind his siblings Vina Martin, Rebecka Smith, Carolyn Henson, and Clarence Burris, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives who will miss him dearly.

Sid loved the outdoors and found great joy in hunting. His passion for nature and the quiet moments it offered stayed with him throughout his life.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with Rev. Blake Trent officiating. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Sid will be remembered for his love of family, his deep appreciation of the outdoors, and the quiet strength he brought to all who knew him.
