Obituary

Stanley Joe Wills, 79, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of his Lord. He was born on January 12, 1947, in Gainesville, Georgia.

Stanley was the son of the late Charlie Thomas Wills and Bessie Franklin Wills. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Franklin Wills and Edward Timothy Wills.

Stanley was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Starr W. Wills. He was a loving father to Robert Allan Wills, a caring stepfather to Charlene Griffus and Joseph C. Glisson. He treasured his family deeply and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.

A proud patriot, Stanley enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 2, 1966, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Through dedication and faithful service to his country, he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT). He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1969, at Dover AFB, Delaware. His time in service reflected his strong character, discipline, and sense of duty. Qualities he carried throughout his life.

Above all, Stanley was known as a sweet soul. He was deeply loved by his family and his church community. He was a faithful member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church, where he not only worshiped but also served with a willing and humble heart. His dedication to his church was a testament to his strong faith and his desire to serve the Lord and others. His faith guided his actions and shaped the kindness and warmth he showed to everyone he met. He lived with a quiet strength and a gentle spirit that touched countless lives.

Though our hearts grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on in the lives of his family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 3rd, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM at Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Cleveland, Georgia. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Chattahoochee Baptist Church Building Fund, 7905 Duncan Bridge Road, Cleveland, GA 30528
