Obituary

Terry Michael Fox, 73, of Murrayville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Terry leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, cherished memories, and a family who loved him dearly.

Born on March 27, 1953, in Canada, just across the border from Michigan, Terry was the son of Wallace Fox and Carolyn Johnson. Raised in Michigan, his life’s journey took him across the country, including time spent in Arizona, Colorado, and Florida, before he eventually made his home in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Terry carried a strong work ethic and determined spirit throughout his life. He went on to own and operate a tree and waterfall company, putting his skills, creativity, and appreciation for the outdoors to work. His Christian faith was also an important part of his life.

Terry was a passionate football fan whose loyalty to the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Hurricanes, and legendary quarterback Dan Marino never wavered. He also enjoyed a good game of chess or euchre and was always ready for a little friendly competition.

Those who knew Terry will remember his wonderful sense of humor, unmistakable laugh—often punctuated by a characteristic snort—and absolutely no sense of fashion. He could confidently pair a striped polo shirt with camouflage shorts and flip-flops without giving it a second thought. He was equally unconcerned with filtering his thoughts, occasionally making remarks that left those around him wondering whether to laugh, blush, or shake their heads. His family will forever remember his colorful personality and the sayings that became part of their everyday lives, including his emphatic warning, “Never, ever, ever stick a chainsaw in the dirt!” and the familiar exchange, “Hey Marty, how’s it goin’?” “O-k.” Terry was unapologetically himself, and life was certainly more entertaining because of it.

Above all, Terry loved his family. He and his wife, Rene, shared more than 35 years of marriage and built a large, loving family together. Of all the roles he held throughout his life, being a grandfather was among his greatest joys. Terry was openly affectionate with his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to shower them with love and attention. He delighted in watching his family grow and treasured the time he spent with each of them.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Fox and Carolyn Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of more than 35 years, Rene Fox; his children, Michael Fox (Candace) and their daughters, Olivia “Livi” and Charlotte “Charlee”; Christopher Fox (Kelsey) and their daughter, Amelia; Logan Fox; Heather Fox and her partner, Jacob, and their children, Carter and Eloise; KT Fox; Nicholas Fox; Austin Fox; Alicia Marion; and Kyle Marion and his children, James, Katherine “Kate,” and Ezra.

He is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Naquin and Wally Fox, along with extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Though Terry’s passing was sudden and unexpected, the love he gave so freely, the laughter he inspired, and the memories he created will remain with his family for generations to come. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his unwavering football loyalties, his questionable wardrobe choices, and the countless ways he made ordinary moments unforgettable.

And while his family will miss him more than words can express, they will carry forward his stories, his laughter, and his wisdom—including the very important reminder to never, ever, ever stick a chainsaw in the dirt.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega, Georgia.

From 12:00 PM until the service hour, family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a man who brought so much love, laughter, and personality into their lives.
