Mrs. Verlon Dela Barrett Parson, age 76, of Homer, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. She was born on January 25, 1947, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Clyde Barrett and the late Lucile Crisson Barrett.

Verlon and her late husband, Huel "Luke" Parson, pastored many churches in the North Georgia area over a 40+ year span. She would teach Sunday School and lead the music in conjunction with him preaching the gospel. She was spirit filled and loved the Lord with all her heart. For many years, she was also a florist. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and was very business savvy. She always had an optimistic outlook on life and could always find the silver lining in even the darkest of clouds.

She is survived by her children, Phillip (Angie) Parson of Lavonia, Stephen (Heather) Parson of Homer, and Joy Parson of Carnesville; and grandchildren Jake Parson, Jordan (John) Keener, Jared Parson, Alivia (Dylan) Greenway, and Lillee Parson.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
