Marjorie Virginia Sprayberry Cox went to be with her Lord and Savior July 30, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on March the 13, 1933, as the youngest child of Brice Brantley Sprayberry and Marjorie Smith Sprayberry.

She was born in Newnan Ga and graduated from Newnan High School. She then attended LaGrange College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Virgina taught school for 30 years until her retirement with most of that time she taught high school Science. She taught in Coweta County, DeKalb County, and finally in Gwinnett County, Ga. She met Ray D. Cox and they were married until his passing in June, 2025.

In addition to her parents, and her loving husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Morelle Lassetter and brother-in-law Bill Lassetter.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Bennett (Debby) of Carrollton Ga, grandson Ryan Bennett (Tracey) of Woodstock Ga, granddaughter Paulina Bennett of Carrollton Ga, great-grandchildren Corinne Bennett, and Tegan Bennett of Woodstock Ga. Her niece Carolyn Kelley and her son Clayton Kelley both from Newnan Ga.

A Memorial Service will be held at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home on August 16, 2026, at 1:30 PM. Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Dahlonega First Baptist Church Building Fund at 234 Hawkins Street, Dahlonega, Georgia, 30533.
