Walter Edge Jr., age 88, of Suches, GA, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA. Walter was born in Clermont, GA, April 19, 1926. He had lived in Suches for the past 35 years moving there from Montezuma, GA. He was an accountant with the Blue Bird Body Company for many years and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Walter was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church #2 (The Hill Church) in Suches. Walter was the son of the late Walter Edge Sr. and Winnie Strickland Edge and was also preceded in death by three infant siblings and a brother, Donald Edge. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Jean Tritt Edge, of Suches, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and George Vaughn, McDonough, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Quinn Edge and wife, Donna, Carrollton, GA, Walter Marcus Edge and wife, Brenda, Statham, GA, Jeffrey Scott Edge and wife, Mary Neil, Blairsville, GA; sister, Margaret Christian, Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, Robin Vaughn Wallace, Kenneth Vaughn, Elizabeth Vaughn Rodriguez, Chris Edge, Josh Edge, Levi Edge, Cade Edge, Dr. Kristy Edge Carter, Jessica Edge Bryant, Hannah Edge, Jebson Edge, and Mary Kate Edge. 33 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Walter are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church # 2 (The Hill Church) in Suches, GA. Ministers Anthony Edge, Wilson Wallace, and Jonathan Carter will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The pall bearers are Kenneth Vaughn, Chris Edge, Josh Edge, Levi Edge, Cade Edge, and Jebson Edge (USAF stationed in Turkey) represented by his father, Jeffrey Edge. Music will be provided by Walter's granddaughters. The family will receive relatives and friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
