Mrs. Wanda Self, age 56, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Wanda was born in Hall County on November 4, 1964. She was preceded in death by her father Jimmy Grizzle; paternal grandmother Cona Bell Grizzle; father-in-law and mother-in-law Charlie and Sue Self; and nephew Tucker Grizzle. Wanda deeply loved her family. All throughout her children's lives while they were growing up, you could find Wanda in the shadows over seeing her family. She was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School Class of 1982. Wanda furthered her education at Lanier Tech obtaining her certificate in Childhood Development. While attending school and caring for her family's every need, she graduated from Lanier Tech with a 4.0 GPA. Wanda worked for many years at Dr. Whitfield's office in Dahlonega. The last several years of her life were the highlight of her career and of her life as she gained the title of "Mawmaw" to her beloved grandson Reighlan. Wanda will forever be the centerpiece of her family and she will be greatly missed. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of 38 years, Everett Self, Dahlonega; son Daniel Self, Athens; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Jonathan Brady; grandson Reighlan Brady; mother and stepfather Linda and Mike Gaddis; siblings Ronnie Grizzle (Jenn), Denise Cowart (Greg), John Grizzle (Sandy), and Jeff Grizzle (Teresa), all of Dahlonega; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Graveside services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
