Obituary

Mr. William "Bill" DeLettre Jr., age 75, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.

Bill was born on October 17, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late William Hugh DeLettre Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Ogden DeLettre. He grew up loving baseball, riding motorcycles, and surfing at the local beaches near Jacksonville.

After many years living On the Road as a proud hippie, Bill learned construction and carpentry skills, settling down in Florida. Residing in the Jacksonville and Orlando areas, he worked as a builder and general contractor for many years and took great pride in his work. He was known for doing things the right way—believing firmly in hard work, no shortcuts, and living with integrity. His craftsmanship reflected his character, and he earned the respect of many through his dedication and honesty.

Bill was actively involved in AA, where he touched countless lives through his commitment, support, and example to others seeking recovery from addiction. His impact extended far beyond his own journey, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his sisters, Christine (Donald) Sallee of Murrayville, Georgia (formerly of Atlanta), and Lucy Duin of  Jacksonville, FL (currently living in Murrayville, GA; his nephews and niece, Cameron Brown, Mitchell (Claudia) Brown, Nicolas (Jenny) Duin, Barrett (Nancy) Sallee, and Morgan (Christopher) Duin Blount; as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and other relatives who will miss him dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, Bill will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florida.
