William "Bill" Alfred Lach, 67, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on April 25.
Born on October 26, 1958, in Montclair, New Jersey, to Helene and Herbert Lach. Bill was an Industrial Plant Mechanic with Hoover Precision Products in Cumming, GA, for 33 years. He served in the Marine Corps from 1976 until 1980 and as a Lumpkin County volunteer firefighter, Assistant Fire Chief, and first responder from 1986 to 1998. In 1988, he became a Certified Smoke Diver. He also owned and operated the North Georgia School of Diving. Upon retiring, Bill served as a CNA for Gold City Nursing Home during the pandemic. In addition to serving his country and his community, Bill was a founding member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, where he served as a chalice bearer and Verger. Bill was known above all for his strong heart, sense of duty, and unwavering honesty. He was a loving husband, father, and, for too short a time, grandfather. Bill is survived by Melissa Lach; his son Zach, and daughter-in-law Nina; granddaughter Lua; and sister Kathryn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Herbert Jr. and Doug.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at 2:00PM at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church.
