William "Fred" Sullens, age 92, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away on June 4, 2024. Fred was born on December 8, 1931, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Vernon Sullens and the late Lula Peck Sullens.
Fred was a proud veteran, dedicating many years of his life to serving in the Air Force until his retirement. After his distinguished military career, he became a successful business owner in North Georgia, manufacturing trusses. His dedication to his work was unwavering, continuing his business endeavors even as his health declined.
A devout Christian, Fred was a long-time and faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church in Dawsonville. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and he was known for his unwavering faith and devotion.
Fred was a beloved father and a cherished friend to many. His care and commitment to his family were paramount, and he was a pillar of strength and support to his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Wilson of Dahlonega, Greg (Frana) Sullens of Jacksonville, Florida, Cindy (Vance) Voorhees of Dahlonega, Michelle Abercrombie of Dahlonega, and Tona Loggins of Dahlonega; grandchildren Stacy Nail, Zachary Wilson (Tish), Tavia Sullens, Kiefer Voorhees, Sydney Voorhees, Joshua (Bobbie) Abercrombie, and Jordan Abercrombie; great-grandchildren Rye Lingerfelt, Emmy Lingerfelt, Mary-Helen White, Maeve White, Jace Wilson, Ryker Ray, and Eveleen Abercrombie. Fred is also survived by eight siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Jenkins Sullens; five siblings; and his grandchildren Scotty Lingerfelt and Jake Voorhees.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Antioch Baptist Church with Military honors being rendered. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Ministry of Antioch Baptist Church in remembrance of Fred. Donations can be sent to 4632 Auraria Road, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534.
