Mrs. Leona Moss Rider, age 92, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Mrs. Rider was a native and life long resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on April 25, 1928 to the late Major and Floye Rider Moss. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Garfield Rider; son James Rider; and siblings Enda Odom, Cleo Moss, Bonnie Edwards, Viola Sheffield, Edith Mincey, and Adele Bruce. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was affectionately called Granny. Mrs. Rider enjoyed gardening and loved her cat named White Cat. She was a member of Hightower Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Bernice and Lamar Ricketts of Dahlonega; daughter-in-law Bonnie Cantrell of Dahlonega; grandchildren Shannon and Chuck Caldwell, Jamie Rider, and Robin Davis; great-grandchildren Alex and Braxton Martin, Abby and Tommy Adams, and Ashley and Jody Truelove; sisters Pauline Rider, Marvene Grizzle, and Josie and Ervin Barrett; brother Leon and Doris Moss; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Barrett and the Rev. Phillip Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
